Tintern Abbey

Five years have past; five summers, with the length
Of five long winters! and again I hear
These waters, rolling from their mountain-springs
With a sweet inland murmur.

Running on Perranporth

Taken running alongside Dylan

I knew that out of a hundred or so shots, at least one would come out. Pretty pleased with the low-profile Canon 40mm ‘pancake’ lens.

My contribution to video game culture back in the 80s

Video games were a big escape for me as a teenager, and (thank you Google) I’ve just found this scan from Zzap! 64, a best selling Commodore 64 magazine with this tips feature written by the 17 year old me.

Dulwich Picture Gallery Grafitti

Around Peckham and Dulwich over the past couple of years, there have been a number of large pieces of street art on the sides of houses and buildings. They looked commissioned rather than done without permission so for a while I thought it was just part of the gentrification of the area.

But then I found out it was cooler and cleverer than that. It seems that the sedate and splendid Dulwich Picture Gallery has been in on it. They invite artists to select a picture from the gallery and then use a detail from it to create an urban piece anew. How great is that?

My favourite is at the end of our road – ROA has taken a detail of a dog defecating in a much more complicated oil painting and done it in his own style.
